The Cane River film festival is one of the new film festivals that will give International Independent and Student filmmakers an opportunity to network with Producers, Directors, Sponsors and Politicians in this fall's lineup, making this event more interactive and engaging. The films submitted will be shown to our community of film professionals and a panel of judges. Filmmakers participating in the festival attend special events designed to allow interaction between filmmakers and audiences. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a cash award of $1,000.00 ; $500.00 travel assistance grant and debut film. Our Judges will select their Top Five films that will also be shown and featured in the festival. Chris Shoemaker is the founding Director of The International Family Film Festival (IFFF) the first and longest running non-profit film festival exclusively devoted to family entertainment founded in the City of Santa Clarita in 1993 and moved to Hollywood in 2007. The IFFF presents an annual film festival that screens competing films from professionals, accredited film students and youth. It presents workshops and professional panels, a Screenwriters Showcase, and an Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the outstanding filmmakers and screenwriters competing for top awards in specific categories. Over its 25 year history, IFFF has honored some of the world’s biggest and brightest film talents together with tomorrow’s up-and-comers.
Chris Shoemaker is an entrepreneur and award-winning author, he is also the Managing Director/Founder of Freshi Films,LLC and FLO, an online, media arts learning academy for youth and adults located in Burbank, Ca. He also founded Acts of Creation (1990), a creative consulting company , The Claus Family Christmas,LLC (2007), a holiday-themed publishing company, and he has creative consulted to develop and launch numerous other companies.
Jamie is an internationally known, awarded-winning multi-disciplined creative that specializes in all communications channels, from TV to online content.
He is a creative innovator who has driven award-winning communication strategies for many of the world’s premier brands. Sony USA, Club Med, Remy Martin, British Airways, Audi, MIT, Merrill Lynch, IBM, Swiss Air, Star Alliance, MasterCard, L’Oréal. In Italy, he produced award winning campaigns for B&B Italia, Mandarin Duck and Campari among many others.
Jamie conceives, shoots and edits compelling brand stories for clients bringing an aesthetic and emotional power to any project and is particularly good at work requiring global scale and a human touch. He has an instinctive approach to the creativity. Whether it’s re-branding a household name or birthing a new one into the world, Jamie is an excellent leader and brings passion and energy to everything he touches.
He has worked everywhere from Milan, Hong Kong, Rio, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Colorado to the slopes of a glacier in Whistler.

Vick Lee’s fascination with the camera and storytelling started at a very young age, as she would facilitate productions and make videos with family and friends. Today, Vick Lee is the President of a Vick Flick launched in 2018, Co-Founder of Tick Films, an Alum of Columbia College and has produced her screenplay “The Polyarorist”, that was an Official selection of the 2018 Black Harvest film festival.
In every project Vick Lee strives to punctuate real stories of real people and give innovative imagery to not just entertain, but also edify. Mrs. Lee wrote and directed the film “Look What You’ve Done” that was an Official Founders Choice Winner of the 2019 Cane River film festival. The film addresses the infectious phenomenon of 911 abuse the Black Americans seem inordinately vulnerable to and promote 911 is for emergencies only.
Vick Lee is a driven Writer, Producer,Set Designer and her first love Director. Film making allows her to tell her stories and hopes that her growing body of work encourages others to not be afraid to tell their stories.
Jacqui Pitman is widely known throughout Hollywood as “The Casting Director with an Executive Producer’s eye”. She is an Executive Producer and Owner of Pitman casting Inc, a full service, reality television casting company in Los Angeles.
Last year, Pitman, executive produced, created and cast, in partnership with Asylum Entertainment To Rome for Love for Bravo Television network. To Rome for Love followed five single, African-American women as they head to Italy with relationship expert Diann Valentine, to find themselves while searching for “The One”.
In 2004, Pitman also developed and co-executive produced ABC"‘s Hit Plastic Surgery show, the original Extreme Makeover while working as the VP of Development for Lighthearted Entertainment. She also created and executive produced the MTV hit show NEXT! She takes pride in admitting the inspiration behind the show NEXT! was her own dating life.
In 2009 after working on the casting side and the producing side, Jacqui realized that casting is the backbone of a great reality show so she decided to marry her television development experience with her casting skills and formed Partypit Productions Inc. and Pitman Casting Inc.. PartyPit Productions Inc. is the development arm of Pitman Casting Inc.
In the heart of the television industry, Burbank, Ca. Pitman, along with her partner and SVP of Production, John Kennamann, and her two Co_Casting Directors, JR Pittman and Jerry Artukovich, oversees the casting process from development to delivery.
Pitman Casting Inc.specialize in all things reality; hosts of game and talks shows, experts, comedians, docu-soaps, occupational casting competitive reality shows and more. Pitman and her team of casting producers handle the creative outreach, interviewing and cast selection, while Kennamann and his production team handle all things logistical; such as background checks, applicant releases and agreements, medical and psyche exams and casting finals.
Over the past several years Pitman Casting has cast over 500 shows. Some of which include reality shows such as: Let’s Make a Deal, Blind Date 2019, Kids Say The Darndest Things with Tiffany Haddish. Big Brother 2, SyFy’s Face Off 1-13, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge and Hot Set. The premiere season of NBC’s Hollywood Game Night, GSN’s hit game shows Divided and Baggage on the Road. Bravo’s Who Want to be a Supermodel. Discorvery’s Dual Survival and I, Caveman, as well as VH1’s “Dating Naked” to name a few. ABC Studios has also recently optioned one of Pitman’s reality show concepts
Jason A. Waggenspack
The Ranch Film Studios/Head of Possibilities
A Baton Rouge native, Jason studied film in New York before graduating from the University of New Orleans. Professionally, he has worked his way up from the bottom, from location managing to producing feature films and helming The Ranch Film Studios.
He started a development company called Neutral Ground Films in 2007 that has produced multiple shorts, music videos, documentaries and Iphone Apps. He has also been a producer on the feature films Maggie, The Lookalike and The True Don Quixote.
In 2014 Jason founded The Ranch Film Studios in Chalmette, Louisiana where he is titled the Head of Possibilities (CEO). He has played an integral part in landing some of the biggest films to hit Louisiana. A list that includes Terminator, Genisys, Focus, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to name a few.
As Executive committee Board member and Treasurer for the Louisiana Film Entertainment Association (LFEA), Jason played a crucial role in maintaining and stabilizing the film tax credit incentive program. Additionally he is a Board member of The Cool Cooperative, a graduate of Leadership St. Bernard and won the George Wood Memorial Award from the University of New Orleans.
