Dr. Ross F. Williams Jr.

Newly appointed Executive Director of the Ben Johnson Educational Center

A native of Natchitoches, education has been the secret sauce in his DNA for as long as he can remember. The youngest of three, his tow sisters retired as educators; and his mother, the late Emma Robinson Williams, served as an educator for over 40 years before retiring.

An alum of Southern University’s Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge, Dr. Williams received a bacherlor’s degree in accounting in 1993. Before moving solely into the field of education, he served as an Accounting and Human Resources Manager .Later he took his first teaching job as a Math Instructor at Academy of Dallas, where he remained until 2004. A man of faith, Dr. Williams believes that the trajectory of his becoming Superintendent at the school where he first began teaching was not by happenstance, where he oversaw two school districts, Academy of Dallas and Bexar County Academy Charter Public School Districts from January 2019 to July of 2022.

Always passionate about education leadership , he possesses a keen ability to coach and directly impact student achievement through building instructional leaders. That drive and desire to continue exceling took him to Central Michigan University’s Business Administration and Human Resources Management Program, where he received his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Master of Science in Administration (MSA(, and has completed poste-doctoral studies at the University of St. Thomas. He has served in the New Leaders for New Schools Aspiring Principals Program in the Greater New Orleans area and the McNeil Educational Leadership Foundation, receiving his Principal Certification ( EC-12-Texas) and Out of State Principal (OPS-1-Louisiana). In 2011, he returned to Academy of Dallas to serve as Principal and Regional Director, and while serving in that capacity, in 2013, he completed his Superintendent Certification Program from the University of Texas at Arlington.

His Instructional Strategy, Educational and Transformative leadership fostered a collaborative learning community that supported all stakeholders with the focus remaining on student achievement, parental engagement, and dedicated teachers. Scholars were keenly aware that their schools were “ one school, with on sound,” which ultimately led to the school(s) success.
